Emergency Medical Technician Intensive

Earn your credentials in three weeks with our EMT Intensive course.

Landmark Learning is the leading private teaching institution approved by the N.C. Office of Emergency Medical Services to teach the EMT-Basic curriculum - and the top provider to offer it in this intensive format.

Our classes meet all day every day for three consecutive weeks. During the evenings of the third week, you will attend 12 hours of clinical experience working with ambulance crews and emergency room personnel who are affiliated with our program.

Leave No Trace Master Educator

Please Note: The Master Educator course is not designed to provide instruction on backcountry living skills. The backcountry aspect of the experience is meant to provide relevance to the curriculum, through practicing Leave No Trace techniques and methods, observing examples of impact, and creating an awareness of use and its purposes. The course itinerary is very full, and does not allow time for teaching how to light stoves, cook, purify water, and set up tents, for example.

ASHI Instructor Development Course, Basic First Aid and CPR

Our Training Center prerequisites for this course include current minimum certification as an EMT and current certification in a professional level CPR program. A skills test and written examination are given at the beginning of this course to verify eligibility.

Wilderness StarGuard® Instructor Training

After satisfactory completion of the Wilderness StarGuard® program, participants can take this additional three-day training to become an Instructor candidate of the program. Apprenticeships follow, before the Instructor candidates are able to offer these programs on their own under the auspices of the Starfish Aquatics Institute. Contact our office for more information and updated course availability.

Wilderness StarGuard®

The Wilderness StarGuard® is a cutting edge course designed to meet the needs of wilderness trip leaders with a focus on prevention. This remote application to aquatic rescue courses can be taken alone as a primary training, as an add-on module to the StarGuard® course, or as a module for current lifeguards.

Site assessment, swimmer assessment, and improvising lifeguarding equipment are key components that differentiate this course from traditional waterfront courses.

Wilderness EMT (WEMT 3+1 Format)

This intensive course combines wilderness medicine with urban medical care practices into a single month-long program that includes clinical rotations helping to provide care for real patients. After four weeks of classroom education, practical skills, scenarios and full-scale mock rescues, you will be ready to handle medical emergencies, in the wilderness or right in town.

Learning takes place both in the classroom and in outdoor settings regardless of weather conditions. Come prepared for wet, muddy, cold or hot environments.

Wilderness Upgrade for Medical Professionals (WUMP)

Learn how to improvise equipment, deal with challenging environments, and make difficult medical decisions in remote locations with confidence. Apply your urban emergency care knowledge as our seasoned instructors guide you through five days of intense, hands-on learning. The WUMP course will keep you engaged in wilderness medicine curriculum through case studies and practical scenarios with mock patients.

Learning takes place both in the classroom and in outdoor settings regardless of weather conditions. Come prepared for wet, muddy, cold or hot environments.

Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA)

The WAFA course is designed for trip leaders and those traveling or working in remote areas who need a more extensive training program than the Wilderness First Aid course. This 5-day course focuses on stabilization, treatment and evacuation guidelines for patients in backcountry environments. Emphasis is placed on long term patient care management and specific injury evaluation.

Learning takes place both in the classroom and in outdoor settings regardless of weather conditions. Come prepared for wet, muddy, cold or hot environments.
